Baby Goldie Mae at Home with the Hilmer Family

Lake Country family at home during their in-home lifestyle newborn photography session

A Sweet Session Years in the Making

Some families just feel like home. For me, the Hilmers are one of those families. I’ve had the joy of photographing them through countless chapters: Santa Minis, fall sessions, and even the first time they moved into their newly built home years ago. When I say I’ve watched their family grow, I mean it both literally and with such a full heart.

This time, I was welcomed back into their custom-built home by Miller Marriott to meet their newest addition: sweet baby Goldie Mae. And yes, if the name sounds familiar, it’s because it holds a special meaning. Mom Allie’s beautiful jewelry shop, Goldie Mae, was named with her future daughter in mind long before she arrived. Talk about a full-circle moment.

Every in-home newborn session is special, but this one carried a deeper layer of connection, nostalgia, and love. And photographing it in their cozy, light-filled new home made it even more magical.

The Magic of In-Home Newborn Sessions

There’s something irreplaceable about documenting a lifestyle newborn session right in the heart of a family’s home. In-home sessions allow for so much more than beautiful images; they capture comfort, authenticity, and the real pace of early parenthood.

No rushing to get out the door with diaper bags, extra outfits, and snacks in tow. No worrying about whether everyone is “camera ready.” Instead, we embrace the lived-in beauty of the moment: cuddles on the couch, nursing breaks in the nursery, and big siblings running in and out of the frame.

The Hilmer’s new home was a dream backdrop. Soft, natural light poured through the windows, wrapping the space in a warm glow. Every corner felt like it belonged in a magazine but more importantly, it felt lived in, loved in, and completely them. That’s the magic of photographing families where they feel most at ease.

Baby Goldie Mae & Her Big Brothers

Goldie Mae is one lucky little girl. She has two doting big brothers who, from the moment I walked in the door, I could tell are clearly smitten with their baby sister. From gentle forehead kisses to playful giggles as they peeked into her crib, their sibling bond was already shining.

One of my favorite parts of any in-home newborn session is weaving the siblings into the story. Their energy brings life and movement to the session, and those moments of connection, however wild, quiet, or chaotic, become some of the most treasured. This is their story too.

We kept things relaxed and real. Goldie snoozed peacefully through snuggles, the boys cuddled up for books on the couch, and we soaked in the rhythm of a family adjusting to a beautiful new chapter together.

The Details That Matter: A Family’s Story in Every Frame

It’s the little things that make a session feel deeply personal: the tiny toes, the way Goldie curled perfectly into her mama’s arms, the cozy textures in the nursery that Allie so thoughtfully designed.

One standout moment? A quiet frame of Allie holding Goldie close, their connection tender and still. You can feel the love and intention in that image — a mother cradling the baby who inspired her long before she arrived. That kind of storytelling is what I live for.

Another favorite: Dad, surrounded by all three kids, smiling with that look of “I can’t believe they’re all mine.” These are the moments families will look back on years from now, grateful that they were documented in a way that feels honest and full of love.

As a Lake Country newborn photographer, these quiet, detail-rich moments are exactly what I aim to preserve for every family.

Why I Love Documenting Families Over the Years

Sessions like this remind me why I do what I do. Watching families grow year after year, capturing the way life shifts and settles, is one of the greatest honors of this job.

When I walk into a session like the Hilmers’, it feels less like a photoshoot and more like catching up with old friends who just happen to have a brand new baby to swoon over. There’s a natural rhythm, a trust, and a comfort that comes from working together over time.

And that consistency? It shows in the gallery. There’s a throughline in the storytelling; an evolving visual legacy that tells the full story of a family’s love.

Welcome to the World, Goldie Mae

Hilmer family, thank you again for trusting me to capture your most tender milestones. Photographing baby Goldie Mae in your beautiful home was truly something special.
